Reflection throughout the years…

Along my journey in scouts, I have learnt various things from teamwork to leadership skills. Many people guided me from my parents to my teachers, and I could not become who I am today.

2019

It all started when I was in Primary 3, looking forward to choosing my CCA. I firstly wanted to pick the Infocomm CCA as my first choice and scouts as my second choice for my CCA selection, but my parents encouraged me to put scouts as my first choice. Without that decision, I would not have become who I am today.

The first session of scouts. I learnt more about the scouts’ promise, law and motto. We memorised the scouts’ law and recited it together. We continued and learnt more about the background of how scouting was established, and soon felt proud to be a scout, becoming a leader who helps others and keeps the scout law.

During the December holidays, I worked on my first proficiency badge, the Animal Lover. Doing so was fun as I can de-stress from my school and do what I enjoyed doing.

2020

I continued to strive in doing my best in everything, from getting proficiency badges to showing responsibility in scouts. At that point in time, my dream was to become a senior sixer. A role model who leads everyone. Little did I know, I will become a senior sixer myself eventually.

Mid 2020, I became an assistant senior sixer had Zelda not recommended me to the teachers for me being an assistant senior sixer, I would not have achieved so far. Having a leadership position in scouts made me motivated to continue doing my best.

2021 / 2022

I became a senior sixer in 2021 and started learning how to lead the pack and how to do the flag break. I could never be happier, than achieving my dreams.

I started becoming busier week by week, with more presentations to present to the pack and being in charge of activities there. Doing my very best and improving myself, day by day.

Present

In the following weeks, I will “graduate” from scouts. Looking back on the past, I appreciate all the things that everyone did, which shaped who am I today.

Along my journey in scouts, I have learnt various things from teamwork to leadership skills. Many people guided me from my parents to my teachers, and I could not become who I am today. So I urge all of you – to achieve your dreams and reach greater heights, for there is no harm in doing so.

If you want to, feel free to see my journey to being a senior sixer blog. It is basically a diary of what I achieved in scouts! I apologise for not posting as frequently as before!
